Current situation

  • In 2016 household energy consumption per 1 inhabitant was based 36.9% on coal, 24.4% on electricity, 15.2% on fuel woods.
  • Usage of electric energy per person is 3 937 kWh.
  • The highest point in annual consumption was in 2010 and has been falling regularly since then - in 2014 it fell to the level of 2004.

Social awarness

  • Citizens need to consider consequences of their actions.
  • Social awareness increases - people are more often seen to change the central heating to electric one or heating pump.
  • People pay greater attention to government's actions within energy sources - they want more sustainability.
  • However, still majority of air pollution comes from households' energy usage.

Role of the Government

  • For a few years now, the government has been providing subsidies on Renewable Energy Sources for firms, farms, and for households as well.
  • Laws regulating energy systems in houses were introduced as well.
  • Energy in new buildings has to be based on electicity or heat pumps and in older buildings the usage of environment-harmful was restricted.
  • However, there still is a lot of environment-harmful elements that need to be addressed.
