Tradable Green Certificates

Tradable Green Certificates ( Tradable Renewable Energy Certificates ) have proven themselves to be an unprecedentedly successful policy. The system enables the producers of renewable energy to obtain TGC via the delivery of energy produced to an electrical grid. Simultaneously, energy entrepreneurships are forced to possess a certain amount of renewable energy in their systems, which could be achieved by the purchase of TGC. Therefore, the production of renewable energy becomes particularly profitable. The value of TGC is determined by the Law of Supply and Demand.

Poland could serve as a perfect example of the effectiveness of the aforementioned system. Tradable Green Certificates were introduced in Poland in 2005, when the renewable energy contribution to final gross energy consumption was 6,91%. Afterwards the introduction, notable increase in the contribution could have been observed.
