Education is not only a vital tool in making the people of Europe well informed about the challenges we face and the possible solutions we can come up with in the fight against climate change, but it is also important for inspiring them to fight for their local and national goverments, as well as the the world community to make the changes needed to put a stop to global warming.
Education applies to a variety of different mediums of informing Europes population of these global challenges. It is not only about reforming our educational instututions to teach and practice sustainability, but also effectivising the processes of information distribution of goverment and non-govermental organisations like Greenpeace and Friends of the earth. By using the influence of all these educational platforms, we can put the environment on our agenda in a way that is more effective than any political campaigns would ever be able to. Measures for CO2 reduction are usually related to international meetings and protocol, but we believe that to incite greater reduction and make the adjustment to clean energy easier, a change in attitude, values and a spreading of general information is required.
Education is an extremely effective tool in stopping climate change as a result of how it affects us. It plays a big part in our worldview and values, because it is during our educating that many of these are defined. We make up our minds based on what we know and are aware of and by making climate change important in education it also makes it a important part of our values and changes attitudes on the subject. Education is also extremly important as a way of encouraging engagement, inspiring inovation and making people believe in change. It is through our education that the minds of the future are created and by educating them not only in the difficulties we face, but in the sollutions we can find we are creating people ready and willing to handle our contemperary issues.
