Attendance
Absences – Primary and Secondary
There are two types of absence:
authorised (where the school approves pupil absence, for example, to attend an emergency dental appointment)
unauthorised (where the school will not approve absence, for example, to take holiday in term time))
a) Recording of absences
The School keeps a record and daily register of pupils’ absences. At the end of each term, the School draws up a list of absences for each pupil. Unauthorised absences will be clearly identified. Parents can keep track of their child’s absences via the parent portal.
b) Consequences of absences
i) The school will follow up pupil absences where the school has not been informed and/or provided a reason.
i) In the event of unauthorised absence for more than 20 consecutive days, the pupil is deemed to have left the School. In this instance, the pupil’s parents will be informed by registered letter.
