There is no uniform at the Europa School. However, all students are expected to dress sensibly and comfortably for the weather and activities and to be ready for learning.
In doing so, the following guidelines are to be adhered to:
Shorts, skirts, and dresses should be of at least mid-thigh length otherwise they must be worn with leggings.
In primary children should wear appropriate footwear, flip flops and sliders are not safe for playtime.
The following items are prohibited:
See-through clothing, for example see-through tops;
Strapless, ‘string-strapped’ or vest tops;
Clothing which is revealing; for example, exposing bare midriffs;
Clothing which reveals underwear;
Gym / lycra shorts;
Clothing with offensive logos;
Jewellery and nails which are considered dangerous in practical subjects.
PE kit such as gym shorts should be worn underneath leggings or trousers.
It is recognised that this dress code will not cover all issues that may arise. Students may seek to wear, for example, items which have not been covered by the above guidelines, but which are against the tenor of the dress code. In such a case, or given any issue of dispute, the final arbiter is the Headteacher or other senior member of staff.
In Secondary all students are expected to arrive at school wearing clothing in accordance with this dress code. Should they not do so, then they will be given alternative clothing, or they may be sent home to change - or if unable to go home to do this they will work in isolation for the day.
Please make sure that your child has a waterproof coat in school. Even if it’s sunny in the morning, the weather may not hold. Especially for primary, do not let your child wear clothes at school that you do not wish to get dirty.
For Reception, Y1 and Y2, kindly provide a spare set of labelled plimsolls or other shoes to wear indoors. Make sure they have waterproof soles though, for when the children have to go outside for fire alarm practice. Some teachers ask you to bring in an old t-shirt for artwork.
