Learning Intention: We are creating a 1 minute music and nature film clip
Success Criteria: I can choose music to help tell a story, I can edit my work, I can upload my clip
How is the first dancing video similar to the nature clips below? What emotions are these videos trying to share?
Humans have used music and dance to connect with nature and tell important stories for a very long time. Human dances are often inspired by nature and rhythms in nature like the change of weather, seasons or new life. Think about how you feel after going surfing, bushwalking or running with your dog in the park. Now think about your favourite song and how it makes you feel. Music can have such a powerful effect on the way we feel, just as time spent in nature can.
Can you capture a story in nature or the way it makes you feel and use music to help tell this story?
Over the next two weeks create a 1 minute movie using nature to tell a story or show an emotion you want to share with your audience. Use music and photos or video to tell a story. This can include dance or dance we find in nature like a tree swaying in the wind.
Ideas
Use your backyard space
Film animals, plants, wind or rain
Use yourself dancing in nature
Take your time exploring imovie and its editing functions to create a clip you are really happy with.
Helpful hints
Use different shots to create an interesting movie
Think abut light, colours and shadows.
Look for spaces in nature where you can see energy moving like waves, wind, water, insects, birds or sunbeam.
In this project you are acting as the Choreographer and thinking about how each film shot can be best put together
Watch, watch again, edit and finalize.
Remember to see if your music and videos match in a way that you think tells a story. Show your video to someone in your house and see if they can guess the feelings or story you are trying to convey.
