The Ratoh Duek is a traditional dance that uses body percussion
It tells a story about how the people of Aceh work together in their communities.
Now it's your turn.
Step 1: Sit in a kneeling position resting on your heels
Step 2: Slap both hands on your thighs
Step 3: Clap both hands together
Step 4: Using both hands slap your opposite shoulder and thigh (you may practice this by itself to become familiar with the movement)
Step 5: Slap both hands on your thighs again
Step 6: Clap both hands together once
Step 7: Pause
Step 8: Clap both hands together twice
Step 9: Bring one hand in front of you (as though holding a plate) and swing the other hand and arm in a large circle to your side and slap the front hand.
Step 10: )Repeat step 9) Bring the other hand in front of you (as though holding a plate) and swing the other hand and arm in a large circle to the side and slap the front hand.
