Learning Intention
Students will follow a recipe to make play dough which will then be used to create food art.
They will follow a recipe given (or find their own recipe) and then model the play dough into food (only to look at, not to eat)!!
Success Criteria
I can follow a recipe (with an adult supervising) to make play dough.
I can use the play dough to create food (for display only…not to be eaten)!!
Materials
· Ingredients and kitchen utensils and pans listed below
Making and Creating steps
· Make play dough following the steps below.
Ingredients
· 2 cups of plain flour
· Three quarters of a cup of salt
· Half a cup of warm water
· 1 tablespoon of cooking oil
· Few drops food colouring
Directions (to make 2 colours like I did in the video)
1. Place 2 bowls on the bench. Put half of the water and oil in each bowl. Add a few drops of food dye into each bowl (I used blue in one bowl and green in the other).
2. In a different bowl, mix the flour and salt then put 1 cup into each bowl. Pour the left over flour onto the bench.
3. Mix the dough until the mixture is smooth. You might need to add a bit more flour or water until the consistency is smooth but not sticky.
4. Place the play dough on the bench and roll in flour until it feels like you can build things with it.
5. Store in a plastic bag or start to use straight away.
· Use the play dough you have made to create a piece of play dough food or a plate of different foods.
