New York experience

NEW YORK: THE CITY WHERE DREAMS ARE MADE

Hi everyone! Today I’m reporting about one of the biggest and well-known cities in the world: New York City!

Just after stepping out of the airport, it was clear I was in for a trip to remember: the skyscrapers sparkling against the night sky, the yellow taxis rushing past our bus, all the “city sounds” I got used to hearing while I was there...truly magical.

We had the chance to be independent and live “the american way” for a week, organizing when and where to eat, shopping sprees and taking pictures all around to capture every detail of this beautiful city.

Just being here, making new friends and memories, felt like a true pinch-me moment. For once in my life I thought: “this is where I could see myself live as an adult”. The best feeling, honestly.

We took a trip through Downtown and visited Grand Central Terminal, the iconic train station from the TV series Gossip Girl. We visited the Museum Of Modern Art (MoMa) and saw several examples of modern and late-1800s art, from artists like Van Gogh and Monet. We ventured atop the Empire State Building, and took in the amazing view of NYC from above on a gloriously sunny day.

We strolled through Central Park and its expanse of green grass and tall trees. We also visited the American Museum of Natural History, the set of the film “A night at the Museum” with Ben Stiller. We even sat on the famous “Met steps”, the popular meeting point for characters on Gossip Girl, before visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, an immense art exhibition filled with different expressions of art from Greek-Roman statues to Egyptian mummies to Asian traditional artwork to European landscapes and portraits.

We crossed the Brooklyn Bridge over the Hudson river and visited the 9/11 memorial ground, took the Staten Island ferry and saw the city as a whole from the river, passing close to the Statue of Liberty.

Once back on shore, we took a walk along the riverbank to admire the skyline before moving towards Little Italy and Chinatown.

We also had a guided tour of the United Nations’ Headquarters on the last day of our stay in New York, which was truly inspiring since we managed to get a glimpse of a real assembly while in action.

That’s all from me, readers. I recommend visiting New York to everyone at least once in your life, it is dumbfounding, but in the best way possible.
