GETTING STARTED

Nearly all EPS schools have Discovery Streaming accounts! (All Secondary sites have access to Discovery Education. Elementary teachers will need to check with your site administration to see if your school has purchased Discovery Education.) Log into Discovery Education by going to the website: Google.DiscoveryEducation.com (also linked in your Chrome EPS Bookmarks). If necessary, click the "Sign In With Google" button and use your EPS account.

Your My DE (home) page has personalized content, organized into categories:

Use the DE Experience 10-Step Guide, found here once you are logged into Discovery Ed.

You can also use the other great, topical, step-by-step guides, found in the DE Professional Learning Center.

Pro Tips

Pro Tip #1:

Click the magnifier at the top-right to expand the search bar. Place your cursor in the search bar and click Enter without typing anything. This takes you to a view of ALL the content and filters, without having to search for a specific topic right away.

Pro Tip #3:

When you view a resource (image, video, etc.), notice you have the options/buttons: Quick List, My Content, Assign, Download, and Share. You will also see the citation for each resource.

Pro Tip #4:

You can save content you find in DE by adding it to your My Content and/or adding it to your Quick List. These options are not the same, and DE pros use each option strategically.

    • My Content - ability to organize saved content into folders and share it; great from long-term saving

    • Tip: After you save something to "My Content" you can then move/copy it to "School Content" for easy sharing with teammates!

    • Quick List - adds the item to a list that is accessible from the top-right on nearly every page in DE; great for storing content you want to use this week, so you can open it instantly

    • Tip: Clean up your Quick List! Like throwing away a to-do sticky note once the task is complete, remove items form your quick list, so it doesn't become a note-so-quick list.

Pro Tip #5

Don't be thrown off by the side-bar menu.

Depending on where you navigate to in DE, you may notice your navigation menu appear as a pop-out on the left-side. (This is a component of their classic interface.) You can navigate there, or click "My DE" to return to your homepage for the newer navigation style.
