Shared Drives (Formerly "Team" Drives)

Main Differences between Shared (Team) Drives and My Drive:

      • Ownership: Shared Drives and files are owned by the team, not individuals.

      • Roles (Permissions): Shared Drives have slightly different sharing permissions from My Drive. View the roles and their permissions here.

      • Link-Share Settings: You cannot make a Shared Drive file “Public,” but you can turn on link-sharing for in-district visibility.

      • Appearance: Shared Drives allow you to choose a header/theme.

Roles (Types of Members)

      • Manager (was “Full access") - can do everything, including adding/removing members

      • Content Manager (new as of Oct. 2018, and the default role for new members of the Team Drive) - can edit, reorganize, and delete content, but cannot modify Team Drive membership

      • Contributor (was “Edit access”) -

      • Commenter (was “Comment access”)

      • Viewer (was “View access”)
