EPS is proud to be a 1:1 district K-12. Students in grades PreK-2 will have access to iPads, while students in grades 3-12 will have a Chromebook.
EPS is a Google Workspace for Education district. All EPS staff and students have access to Google's full suite of tools.
EPS uses Lightspeed as our content filter for both students and staff. We recommend always checking to make sure content is available before giving it out to students!
Right now there are two ways to test if digital content is available for student viewing:
Use the Lightspeed AccessScan Extension. Navigate to the webpage/video you would like to test. Click the puzzle piece in the top right of your screen to view your extensions. Click the Lightspeed AccessScan extension (I like to pin mine so it's ready when I am!). Type a student email address (You can use the demo student account given to you by your site) and select "Scan Page." LightSpeed will can the page as a whole and all links on the page, telling you if the page is open or blocked.
This extension is great for a quick check of a simple webpage, article or video. While this will scan every link on the page, if you are navigating to links not on this page, it may not be the best tool for the job!
Use the student demo account. Log into your teacher Chromebook using the student demo account information provided to you by your site (ask your tech spec if you need help!). Navigate to the content to determine if it is open or blocked. You can also create a Google Doc with the links you would like to test and share that doc with the demo account. Then when you log into the Chromebook you can open the Google Doc and test the links.
We recommend using this method when you are testing a complex webpage with many links the students will need, or if you want to see how images or videos will appear to the students.
