2-Step Verification (sometimes referred to as Multi-Factor Authentication or MFA) is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource. Rather than just asking for a username and password, it requires one or more additional verification factors, which decreases the likelihood of a successful login to your account by someone other than yourself.
SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT BEFORE YOU SET UP A SECOND STEP
The first option you have for setting up a 2nd step in verifying your Google account is to use a cell phone or desk phone. IF YOU CHOOSE to use a DESK PHONE, please understand that when you are trying to access your Google account in a different location from where that desk phone is located, you will not be able to get into your Google account. (Think about remote learning days/snow days or days you are on leave.) You will have the option to choose another method after you complete the initial set-up.
You do not have to use a personal phone.
