If a student breaks or loses more than one device in a school year, please follow the steps below.
Notify an administrator.
The administrator will call in the student to discuss the situation.
Depending on the situation, the administrator will decide how to handle these two areas:
Financial Responsibility
Call parents to discuss the fine to cover the cost of the Chromebook.
If the Chromebook was broken by another student, the administrator will determine who should pay for the fine or if the fine should be split between multiple students.
Use of Device(s) Moving Forward Options
Check out another Chromebook for the student.
Make other technology arrangements for the student
Ex: Have the student do all work via paper/pencil, or check out a Chromebook each morning and check it back in at the end of each day. (In this case, it is the school’s responsibility to make sure the student complies.)
DAY ONE
1. The registrar will have a new student register/enroll through the online registration process in Infinite Campus. As part of enrollment, the guardian will view the Responsible Use Agreement then check the box agreeing to the terms. This must be checked in order to move forward. A copy of the Student Technology Protection Plan is linked for the guardian to view. If they want the Student Technology Protection Plan, the fee is paid to the financial secretary. Once it is paid, the financial secretary will need to mark the checkbox in IC.
2. Once all the information is entered into Infinite Campus correctly, the student’s network login will be created. This process could take up to 3 hours. The student will then use this information to open the Infinite Campus portal and view the Annual Student Review.
3. Students will check out a new chromebook through Destiny from the site designated Chromebook Manager. They will login to the device with their network login and default password. Once they are logged into their new device, they will go to the Self-Serve Password Reset site in EPS Bookmarks and create an account to reset their password.
Immediately fill out this form if:
a student has left the district and has not turned in his/her Chromebook
a Chromebook is lost or stolen
Once the form has been received, the Chromebook will be disabled and a splash message will be on the screen stating that the Chromebook is the property of Edmond Public Schools, and to return it immediately. The device will be locked and cannot be used.
Next, update Destiny to show the device is lost or stolen, then immediately assign the correct fines to the student for documentation purposes.
If the missing Chromebook is returned, immediately fill out this form. Make sure to fill out the re-enable portion of the form. Check for any damages, and then update Destiny appropriately.
