Knowledgeable مُطَّلِعُون
Seeking Knowledge طَلَبُ العِلم
Ved has demonstrated exceptional knowledge and confidence throughout our mathematics journey. He consistently challenges himself, embraces mistakes as part of the learning process, and eagerly takes on every challenge presented to him. For Ved, the more difficult the task, the better. His perseverance and curiosity truly reflect the spirit of an IB Achiever.
Unfortunately Ved was sick all week and we couldn't give him his well-deserved award. We look forward to presenting it to him next week!
Open-Minded مُنفَتِحُون
Luke has demonstrated the IB learner profile of being open-minded by thoughtfully and honestly reflecting on his choices in the classroom. His growing maturity has helped him stay focused, complete his work with fewer distractions, and build confidence in his learning.

Tolerance التَّسَامُح
Grace demonstrated open-mindedness during science workshop learning and experiments. She actively participated, listened to different ideas, and was willing to try new approaches. Grace challenged herself by exploring unfamiliar concepts and learning from each experiment. Well done, Grace!
This week in our unit, students shared their 3D models created using renewable sources of energy. They also designed a booklet that captured their learning journey, including persuasive writing, details about their product, and how it helps make the environment healthier and greener.
Next week: students will begin unpacking their new Unit of Inquiry under How We Express Ourselves, with a focus on media.
Central idea: Energy may be converted, transformed and used to support human progress.
Specified Concepts: Form, Function and Responsibility
Lines of inquiry:
Renewable and non-renewable resources
How energy is converted and transformed
Responsible use of energy
Learner Profile: Thinker, Inquirer and Knowledgeable
This week students worked on comparing and simplifying fractions using manipulatives. They challenged themselves by making connections to real-life examples, helping them understand how fractions are used in everyday situations.
Next week: students will continue to work on adding and subtracting fractions, building confidence through hands-on practice and problem-solving.
This week students continued to develop their persuasive writing by explaining why the product they created is not harmful to the environment. They also shared their work with peers, learning from one another through discussion and feedback.
Next week: students will begin learning about poetry, exploring different forms including free verse. They will start experimenting with writing their own poems to express ideas creatively.
Each Friday, activities will be shared via SeeSaw, including weekly spelling words. Students are expected to return their completed home learning by the following Friday. This can be submitted in one of three ways: directly on SeeSaw, as a physical copy, or in a home learning journal (which we can provide if preferred).
In addition, we highly recommend that students read every day at home. Daily reading builds fluency, strengthens comprehension, and nurtures a lifelong love of books.
Thank you for supporting your child in developing positive and consistent learning habits.
Spelling: We have a spelling test every Friday. This week, our test will be on Thursday due to National Day celebrations.
Maths: Find the equivalent fraction.
Literacy: Learn more about the Greek and Latin numeral prefixes. Can you use the correct one in the sentences?
Unit of Inquiry (UOI): Choose one of the tasks to reflect on our How The World Works unit.
Arabic/ Islamic

International Day 6th February- Make/bring your own flag
As part of our annual International Day (Friday, 6th February), we will be holding our exciting Flag Parade!
For homework, please could your child create their country’s flag at home this week. They can use any materials they like – draw, colour, paint, or craft the flag themselves or bring in an actual flag if they have it - it can be any size.
Completed flags should be brought into school for the parade. This is a fun way for students to celebrate their countries and showcase their creativity!
Thank you for your support.
Message from Grade 4 Team:
For our next Unit of Inquiry, our focus will be on media. If you know anyone who works in the field of news, advertising, or radio and would be willing to visit our school to share their expertise with our students, we would love to hear from you.
Please reach out to the Grade 4 teachers if you can support us in this way. Thank you for your continued support.
