What a wonderful week of learning it has been in Grade 4! During remote learning, students once again demonstrated resilience, open-mindedness, and independence as they adapted to different ways of learning and stayed engaged throughout the week. We are so proud of the way students continued to take responsibility for their learning, collaborate with others, and show a positive attitude in all tasks.
The ambassadors for 4A next week will be: Haya and Graeme
The ambassadors for 4B next week will be:
The ambassadors for 4C next week will be: Noah and Zhaoyang
Knowledgeable مُطَّلِعُون Seeking Knowledge طَلَبُ العِلم
Kabir had a wonderful start after online learning. He is an active learner, sharing his knowledge about various body systems and working hard on the start of his exhibition. Keep up the great work, Kabir!
Caring مُهتَمُّون Compassion and Mercy الرَّحمَة
Niyati has shown great courage in contributing to class discussions. Being new to Dwight, she has settled in very well, actively participates, and consistently completes her work. She is always smiling, caring towards her friends, and has made strong connections with her peers.
We warmly welcome Niyati to the Dwight family!
This week, in UOI, students prepared for their group presentations on their chosen body system topics. They worked collaboratively to organise their ideas, create notes, and plan how they will confidently share their learning with others. It has been exciting to see students developing their communication and research skills while working together as a team.
Next week: students are excited for our Mini Exhibition, Bodyology, which will be a wonderful celebration of learning! Students will have the opportunity to showcase their understanding of the human body systems and share their hard work, creativity, and knowledge with others.
Central idea: The human body consists of a network of interconnected systems.
Specified Concepts: Causation, Function and Connection
Lines of inquiry:
How body systems work
The interconnectedness of body systems
Maintaining a healthy body
Learner Profile: Thinker and Balanced
This week, in Literacy, students have been working on their final piece of writing by choosing a body system to write about in a scientific report. They focused on using linking words, adding citations and references, and organising their ideas clearly.
Next week: students will continue editing their work, sharing it with peers, and self-assessing their writing to improve their final drafts.
This week in Math, students explored pie charts by collecting and analysing data related to body systems. They used percentages to create pie charts and learned how math can be applied in real-life situations to represent information clearly and visually.
Next week: students will be introduced to a new unit on measurement, where they will explore different measurement skills and real-world applications.

Term 2 Celebration assembly
As we were unable to hold our Term 2 Celebration Assembly as planned due to moving to Distance learning, we are delighted to share with you how we will celebrate our children in an alternative format. Teachers had already gone through the process of nominating children in the usual way, the children who have been nominated will be presented their certificates within school by key members of staff and celebrated within the weekly newsletter. We look forward to gathering together in person to celebrate in Term3 as previously planned. Congratulations to all our award recipients!
