Grade 4 had an amazing week wrapping up their learning from our unit How We Organise Ourselves. Students participated in engaging activities, reflected on how systems work, and demonstrated what it means to be thinkers and inquirers. We also enjoyed a fabulous Winter Concert, beautifully performed by our talented Grade 4 students—congratulations to all students and parents for their hard work and wonderful support. A big thank you to all the parents and students who took part in the Winter Fayre activities. Your enthusiasm and contributions helped support a great cause!
Well done to Khalifa, Maxton, Ved, Mustafa, Khalifa, Rafael and Malkia for participating in the Winter Fayre by running their stalls and supporting a great cause!
The ambassadors for 4A next week will be: Chaaru and Jamie
The ambassadors for 4B next week will be:
The ambassadors for 4C next week will be: Anahita and Zhaoyang
Thinker مُفكِّرُون
Sama demonstrated outstanding thinking skills by asking thoughtful questions and actively contributing to class discussions. She extended her learning in maths by challenging herself with more complex problems and showing great perserverance.
Aryan Keshup
Knowledgeable مُطَّلِعُون
Aryan has demonstrated the IB learner profile of being a risk-taker by tackling challenging maths tasks with confidence and perseverance. He approaches problems with an open mind, willing to try new strategies and learn from mistakes. Aryan’s courage and determination make him a great example of a true risk-taker in learning.

Mirra Davtyan
Knowledgeable مُطَّلِعُون
Mirra demonstrated the Knowledgeable learner profile during our science lesson on animal senses. She made meaningful connections to what we were learning, bringing her prior experiences into the hook activity and engaging everyone in the inquiry. Well done, Mirra!
This week in UOI, students were asked to imagine what problems the world in 2050 might face and to use a Venn diagram to compare the issues people experience now with those we may encounter in the future. They made thoughtful connections to different systems, discussing which systems need to work effectively to support communities in the years ahead. Students then began developing a future problem they believe could affect these systems and explored creative solutions to help keep our world running smoothly.
Next week, we will also explore systems through a real-world learning experience during our Mercedes-Benz Off-Road field trip. This hands-on opportunity will allow students to see how different systems work outside the classroom and make meaningful connections to our unit.
Central idea: Systems are created to bring about change and meet the needs of society.
Specified Concepts: Form, Function and Responsibility
Lines of inquiry:
How different systems function and what their parts do
How people participate in and influence systems
Ways systems can create change in communities or the environment
Learner Profile: Thinker, Inquirer and Knowledgeable
This week in Math, we checked our knowledge through activities designed to help students gain confidence in their skills. Students reviewed key concepts such as factors, multiples, and multiplying digits, and practiced applying these skills in different problem-solving tasks. These activities helped strengthen their understanding and build confidence in using math strategies independently.
Next week, students will reflect on the areas that they need to strengthen and identify strategies that can help us build confidence in Math. Students will also learn from their peers by sharing useful techniques and approaches that support successful problem-solving.
This week, in Literacy, students continued working on their myths. They revised their stories to improve sequencing, used clear transitions, and varied paragraph lengths and structures. Students also used “I can” statements to reflect on their own learning and progress.
Next week, students will design props and present their stories to their classmates in a fun and creative way, bringing their myths to life and sharing their learning with the class.
This week in Science, students consolidated their learning about animal senses by exploring a model to explain how sensory information travels to the brain and helps animals survive.
Next week, students will reflect on the scientific skills they used in this unit to explore and learn about animal and human senses.
Each Friday, activities will be shared via SeeSaw, including weekly spelling words. Students are expected to return their completed home learning by the following Friday. This can be submitted in one of three ways: directly on SeeSaw, as a physical copy, or in a home learning journal (which we can provide if preferred).
In addition, we highly recommend that students read every day at home. Daily reading builds fluency, strengthens comprehension, and nurtures a lifelong love of books.
Thank you for supporting your child in developing positive and consistent learning habits.
