Another exciting and engaging week for our Grade 4 students as they dive deeper into inquiry, exploring how systems work and how people influence them. Through hands-on activities and collaborative learning, students are discovering how rules, roles, and resources interact to keep communities running smoothly. Students are also participating in the Dubai 30x30 Challenge, exploring new skills and setting personal goals. This week, we also celebrated UAE Flag Day, and students learned about the importance of the flag and why it is celebrated.
Thank you to all the parents who attended the Parent-Teacher Conference and supported your child’s learning journey — together, we continue to nurture a strong and caring school community.
A big shout-out and congratulations to Anahita and her parents for her amazing achievement as the runner-up in the squash tournament held at American University, Sharjah! Anahita continues to shine her spark both in and out of school!
The ambassadors for 4A next week will be: Sama and Pandora
The ambassadors for 4B next week will be:
The ambassadors for 4C next week will be: Leia and Serafim
Principled ذوُو مبََادئ
Haya consistently demonstrates what it means to be a principled learner. She goes above and beyond in every lesson, always approaching her work with integrity, curiosity, and determination.
Kareena Kumar
Knowledgeable مُطَّلِعُون
Kareena has demonstrated the Knowledgeable IB Learner Profile attribute in her Maths lessons this
week. She has taken ownership of her learning, showing curiosity and confidence as she explores new
strategies. Kareena has successfully applied a range of methods to solve long multiplication problems
and has built upon her prior understanding to deepen her mathematical thinking.
Aaunick Sethi
Risk-Takers مُجَازِفُون Patience & Perseverance
Aaunick showed excellent risk-taking in Math this week, confidently challenging himself with multiplication sums. He explored different strategies and look on new approaches to find solutions. Well Done, Aaunick for demonstrating courage and initiative in your learning!
This week, Grade 4 students explored how technology can enhance the systems they studied earlier. In the ‘Future Innovations Lab,’ they rotated through stations using VR, robots, AI, and green solutions to brainstorm improvements and create their own ‘Future System Blueprints.’ Students were also introduced to Magic School, a research and learning platform where they can explore different rooms, take notes, summarise information, and complete tasks using real-world systems. They used Magic School to deepen their understanding and apply innovative ideas creatively.
Next week, students will explore how different systems can create positive change in communities and the environment, applying their learning to real-world situations.
Central idea: Systems are created to bring about change and meet the needs of society.
Specified Concepts: Form, Function and Responsibility
Lines of inquiry:
How different systems function and what their parts do
How people participate in and influence systems
Ways systems can create change in communities or the environment
Learner Profile: Thinker, Inquirer and Knowledgeable
This week in Math, Grade 4 students were introduced to dividing 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. They practiced using the steps of "divide, multiply, subtract, and bring it down" to solve these problems. In addition to learning the division process, students also tackled word problems to apply their skills in real-life scenarios. It’s been great to see them gaining confidence with these new strategies!
Next week, we will continue learning about dividing numbers by a one-digit number. We will also review the concepts we have covered so far.
This week in Literacy, Grade 4 students enhanced their storytelling by adding expressive dialogue and vivid sensory details, bringing characters and scenes to life. Through peer reflections and the ‘Five Senses Challenge,’ they practiced showing emotions and actions, creating more engaging and dynamic stories.
Next week, students will focus on crafting strong story endings, connecting them to their beginnings. They will revise their drafts using peer feedback to ensure their myths leave a lasting impression.
This week in Science, students continued to learn about animal senses using a model where they observed pictures and predicted how a predator would respond when seeing its prey, such as a mouse. They were encouraged to explore relevant vocabulary words and, based on their observations, share their learning with the class.
Next week, students will dig deeper into sensory stimuli and receptors, exploring how different senses detect information from the environment and send it to the brain.
Each Friday, activities will be shared via SeeSaw, including weekly spelling words. Students are expected to return their completed home learning by the following Friday. This can be submitted in one of three ways: directly on SeeSaw, as a physical copy, or in a home learning journal (which we can provide if preferred).
In addition, we highly recommend that students read every day at home. Daily reading builds fluency, strengthens comprehension, and nurtures a lifelong love of books.
Thank you for supporting your child in developing positive and consistent learning habits.
