APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
The course aims at introducing the students to the design of multimedia installations, that is systems capable of interacting with the visitors both at a sensory and at a content level. Students will acquire technical and theoretical tools in order to simultaneously manage different media, with a focus on sound design and audio visual performances.
The programme consists of one single module, which grants 6 credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Define and analyse the characteristics of an existing multimedia system
Highlight the value of experimentation and foster the relation among art, design and technology
Develop the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to approach audio visual performance projects with the right design method
Create simple interactive multimedia prototypes
History of video art
Analysis of audio-visual installations
Multimedia design in space
Hardware and software tools and interfaces
Audio-visual performance
Sound in audio-visual performances
Real-time audio-visual techniques
Management and production of audio-visual performance projects
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
Assessment tools may include:
Graded exercises
Creation of a multimedia installation
Oral exam
