About The Project

My project highlights all of the struggles that women face in homelessness. From having to deal with periods, sexual harassment, raising children while homeless and much more. Women have to face a lot of adversities and adapt in a different way than most others.

Mikayla Phillips (she/her)

My name is Mikayla, I'm 17 and I am a senior here at Lane. I've always been interested in the topic of homeless women so that is why I wanted to present some of the major effects of it. Seeing first hand experiences of people close to me and just women I see on the street as I walk by on a daily basis has made this subject a soft spot for me. Since I was younger, I've always been involved in food drives, homeless workshops (most including women), and just community projects in general so I believe that this project came naturally to me because its a topic that I'm actually passionate about and in making a difference.
