Gender roles in society may be more subtle than they were in the past, but the roles are effective at entering your subconscious nonetheless. This project will go over the roles society enforces onto women since childhood, how they are present in adulthood, and the extent to which the bias is ingrained into your subconscious mind.
I joined women in literature because of the lack of women's writings in your average school curriculum. After joining I've learned more about the hardships women faced in order to get published, their frustrations over time, and their dystopia. In working on this project I was able to create something out of a topic about women that I've been interested in ever since I took the career association test, which is an implicit bias test that tests how strong your bias against women is in the workplace. Because of that test I began to question why biases against women in the workplace occur, and thus the question how they affect women in society.
