About The Project
Many people know about figure skating, but do not know the history behind women in the sport and the struggles women face in the sport. My project highlights the growth in the sport over time and the work that still needs to be done to support women in figure skating. A big theme of my project is to be a figure skater who is a woman, you don’t just have to be elegant, formal, or feminine, but you can express yourself however you want.

Hi! My name is Sophie and I am currently a Lane Tech junior enrolled in Women in Lit. I enjoy bracelet and key chain making, painting, going to concerts, and reading. I chose this topic because of my own experience growing up taking figure skating lessons where I appreciated the strong female figure skaters around me. I hope that those who view my project learn something new! Figure skating is such a cool sport and deserves appreciation.
