tutti parlano di jamie

“Tutti Parlano di Jamie” è una commedia/musical, rappresentata al Teatro Brancaccio di Roma, che narra le vicende di un ragazzo, James Campbell, inglese di sedici anni, omosessuale, che come sogno ha quello di diventare una Drag queen, ma che viene bullizzato per la sua diversità. Questa commedia è ispirata a una storia vera, ovviamente modificata per le esigenze di spettacolo e con aggiunta di battute ironiche per sensibilizzare. La scena secondo me più toccante, è quella in cui il padre confessa in modo rude che non ha mai amato Jamie a

causa della sua omosessualità. La scena invece più bella credo sia quella in cui Jamie, piuttosto che rispondere all’insulto di Giovanni (il suo bullo) con un altro insulto, semplicemente lo bacia. La migliore amica di Jamie è Pritti, una ragazza pakistana che lo aiuta a non aver paura di se stesso e dei suoi sogni.

Io sinceramente lo ritengo uno spettacolo fantastico, che unisce fatti reali, a battute e a canzoni. Segnalo inoltre che esiste anche un film con questo stesso soggetto e titolo. (Darian Francisci)

“Everybody’s talking about Jamie”

With my class I had the pleasure to watch the beautiful musical “Everybody talks about Jamie”.

The musical, full of jokes and amazing dances and songs, has a super actual plot. It, in fact, talks about Jamie, a teenager who attend the high school, who’s made fun because of his sexuality and what he wants to become, a drag queen. In this difficult path, though, he’s not alone; he’s got his best friend, Pritti. She is a Muslim girl with the dream of becoming a doctor. She is also bullied because she loves to study.

What I personally loved the most about the musical was how Jamie was able to react to him being bullied. Some people would just get down, which he did once, but always came back strong. He didn’t react by fighting or hitting who bullied him. That is something I really admire and I wish I could do that. Even if he hasn’t always been perfect with his mom, who loves him so much and made so many sacrifices for him, he has always found the way to make up. Jamie has also helped Pritti a lot and so did she. To accomplish something you are always going to need someone’s back.

In conclusion, I believe this musical helps people of our age, who still need to discover who we are, understand how to express ourselves regardless sex, religion, sexual orientation, skin colour or anything else.

Something that I like to say is that if you’re doing what you love, nobody can tell you that you are not successful. (Viola Valora)
