Celebrating Moments That Matter
Celebrating Moments That Matter
I am constantly inspired by how our team lifts each other up. This week, we rallied behind our incredible Music Department colleagues as they embraced a powerful professional growth opportunity, reminding us that when one of us learns, we all shine brighter.
What makes our Middle School team special is not just what we do, but how we do it: with kindness, support, and a shared commitment to being the best puzzle pieces we can be. Each of you makes this picture complete, and I couldn’t be prouder to be on this journey together. Let’s keep rooting for each other, because our strength is in our unity, and that’s unstoppable!
✨ Stay tuned for our next group picture. We can’t wait to update it with everyone included! 📸

AMISA's Assessment Symposium
On Saturday, October 11, you are invited to AMISA's Assessment Symposium: Rethinking What We Measure and Why, a dynamic half-day of learning with keynote speaker Myron Dueck. Together, educators will explore fresh, practical strategies to make assessment more meaningful and impactful in every classroom. We are especially excited that our very own Vale will be presenting alongside Cassie and Emi Castillo, a wonderful chance to support our MS AP and be part of an inspiring conversation about the future of assessment.

Importing grades from Canvas to iSams
As we begin the first reporting cycle with both Canvas and iSAMS, we want to share what the process will look like. To make sure everything runs smoothly and reports are accurate, we’ll need a 5-day window between the time gradebooks close and the time reports are published.
Here’s the timeline for this cycle:
Friday, November 7 → Last day to enter grades in Canvas gradebooks. This means that this is the last day of Partial 1.
Monday, November 10 → Data validation begins
Friday, November 14 → Reports will be published
In future cycles, we expect the process to move faster. However, for this first implementation, it’s important to include contingency time to ensure accuracy and avoid errors.
A message from Vale regarding our Makeup Policy:
As we approach the midpoint of Partial 1, I would like to take a moment to remind everyone of our approach to makeups this year.
Formative Assessments:
All students are eligible to make up one formative per partial. The makeup will replace the lowest formative grade in their gradebook, regardless of the original score. Unless of score the new score is lower than the previous scores.
Summative Assessments:
Students who receive a 69% or lower on a summative may retake it. The maximum score they can earn on the makeup is 80%.
Please remember that Male and I must approve any summative makeup before it is offered.
It’s important that we follow these guidelines consistently to ensure fairness and clarity for students and families.
