Learning Journeys and wall of fame in each classroom includes documentation.
HANDS:
Remember that the group that stays in the class should be engaging in small group/personalized instruction. This time is not "free time". It has to be purposeful, planned for and targeted.
Suggested method:
8h45-9h55: Calendar
9h55-9h15: Targeted activities
Composting every day. Please remember this is very important to keep our compost bin alive.
Kids sort compostable/non compostable/regular waste in each classroom (3 trash cans)
Every afternoon, have a compost helper pour the compostable waste in each grade level bin.
Every morning, the groups that go to the garden during HANDS need to bring the grade-level bin. Please make sure to mix the contents 50/50: organic waste and dry material (cascarilla de arroz or dry leaves).
1st Grade, bring compost right after lunch; Meli Vorkeck will be in charge of bringing all 1st Grade helpers after lunch.

"DID YOU LIKE IT?" STRATEGY
Read Schubert's Big Voice in class.
1. Go to the victim first: The adult approaches the child who was the target of the negative behavior.
2. Ask the unexpected question: Instead of addressing the aggressor, the adult asks, "Did you like it?
Prompt an assertive response: The child, after saying "no," is then prompted to state their boundary: "I don't like it when you [describe the behavior]. Give it back, please"
The child learns to use their "BIG voice" to express their feelings and set limits on others' behavior.
Send a "You did it card!"
