Learning Objective: Students will be able to explore and use our new learning platform: Canvas
Learning Activities, steps, and planned practice:
Use this presentation to guide your teaching.
Use the first slides to teach students how to access Canvas.
Starting on slide 13, show them how to find the learning materials & resources from all their classes.
Starting on slide 19, teach students how to send messages to their teachers.
**The last slide says "How to see your grades?" But we are not ready to see that yet. We can come back to this presentation and show this to students around mid-partial**
Afterwards, have students complete this scavenger hunt individually or in partnerships (If you'd like, make a copy of the presentation and edit it to personalize it for your class).
To do this, print copies of the scavenger hunt for students to have it handy and/or project its QR code for students to scan and have the questions available. (If you made a copy of the presentation, you need to generate its QR code in Canva -- Share -- See All -- QR Code).
Closure / Assessment:
As an exit ticket, have students answer on a post it their answer to the following thinking routine:
Before I used to think...
Now I think...
Important: Before this lesson, make sure you:
Manually added your students to your Homeroom course in Canvas (They need to accept the invitation)
Added all the resources from this current and past weeks to all your courses in Canvas.
Published all your courses in Canvas.
Published all your modules in Canvas.
Talked to your teaching team to ensure everything is published.
Tried your Student View option to see that everything is working.
Tried to use your QR code from a computer to see if it opens correctly, OR printed the scavenger hunt questions for students to have them handy.
