Chess: Termly Reflection

Strategy & Skill: A Thriving Term of Chess

“Chess isn’t just a game. It’s a tool for learning. Equip your school for Chess. Chess helps chidlren develop critical thinking, patience, and strategic thinking.” — House of Chess

It has been an exhilarating term for our chess players, with the boards buzzing across all age groups. Our Junior Primary sessions have seen a fantastic surge in numbers, and the sheer enthusiasm from our youngest players has been truly encouraging.

Meanwhile, our Senior Primary players enjoyed a change of scenery this term. Their temporary venue in the Library foyer provided a unique, refreshing atmosphere that even sparked interest from passers-by. To further sharpen their skills, we introduced new chess pieces and a chess clock, challenging the children to master the art of quick thinking under pressure.

Friday afternoons remain a vibrant hub of activity for our Pre-School and Junior Primary boys and girls. As beginners master the unique moves of each piece, their joy in "capturing" an opponent's piece is tangible. Beyond the game itself, it has been delightful to witness the children sharing their knowledge and engaging in spirited conversations with their peers.
