The cricket season got off to an exciting start, with our boys and girls stepping onto the field eager to develop their skills and enjoy the game. Their commitment was evident, with many players putting in extra hours of practice and pushing themselves to improve. This dedication has been instrumental in their growth and success throughout the season.
The Grade 1 and 2 cricketers have had a fantastic season, bursting with energy, high-fives, and a genuine love for the game. From the very first session on the grass to our final matches, it has been wonderful to see their skills develop alongside their growing team spirit. Having the girls join the boys on the field this term has been a highlight, adding a wonderful element of fun and a great dynamic to our practices and matches.
This term has been an exciting and energetic start to 2026. We have seen so many of our riders rise to new challenges, both in competitive arenas and during their recreational riding.
It has been especially rewarding to watch not only the improvement in riding ability, but also the way our riders have demonstrated excellent horsemanship and true sportsmanship. Their kindness, encouragement towards one another, and positive attitudes have truly stood out this term.
The recent tennis season proved to be both rewarding and developmental, with the school entering 4 Open teams and 2 Junior teams into the league. Despite facing challenges, particularly due to the rainy season, the overall experience was highly beneficial for players and coaches alike. Weather disruptions meant that teams were only able to play an average of four games, limiting match exposure but not dampening the enthusiasm and commitment shown throughout the season.

The shift into winter sport on Monday, 9 March brought with it a real sense of anticipation. With just a short window to prepare, our squads moved quickly from conditioning into competitive rugby. A challenge in itself, but one that created genuine excitement about what these groups could become.
It has been an impressive season for our Clifton swimming squads, characterised by hard work and a fantastic atmosphere at the pool. The dedication shown during training sessions was evident in the recent Inter-Schools Galas. Congratulations to our Girls Squad, who won the Inter-Schools B Gala, earning a well-deserved promotion to the A Gala. Our Mixed Squad also saw great success, winning the Inter-Schools D Gala and securing a promotion to the C Gala for next season. Our Boys Squad put in a solid performance throughout, with many swimmers achieving personal best times.
The squash courts have been a buzz this term, with over a hundred children playing weekly. Brian Borgen has continued his lessons, primarily focusing on children in Grades 0-4. Additionally, we have introduced practice slots for Grades 5-7 boys and girls on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. These sessions have been well-attended and feature a variety of fun drills and games. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons have also been very busy, with many children coming in to practice their skills.
The Junior Primary Inter-house gala was a fantastic morning at the pool, centred around our "Champs" having fun and gaining confidence in the water.
From the Grade 1s taking on "Surf's Up" to the Grade 3s showing their skills in the "Balance Board Buddies" and Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly events, the effort from every child was great to see. There was a wonderful atmosphere at the pool, especially during the Freestyle Ladder Relay and the always-competitive Parents Race.
Over half term, our 1st Team cricketers travelled to Zimbabwe for an incredible ISCF tour.
They played their first day-night match on Wednesday, 18 February, which served as a warm-up game and was a wonderful experience for the boys.
Yesterday was an incredible day at Clifton Notties. Although the weather did not play along, we were fortunate to make use of the school’s outstanding Indoor Centre, which allowed the boys to enjoy a wonderful learning experience and meaningful interaction with the SA Rugby legends.
