Grade 4 & 5 SEL Workshop: 24 March

Speaking my Truth

Facilitated by Mr Quinn and Mr Majola, the Gr 4 and 5 cohort participated enthusiastically in a workshop on the value in having difficult conversations, as well as the process of ‘doing what is right, not what is easy’ (with a nod to the wisdom of JK Rowling’s Professor Albus Dumbledore.

The workshop was structured in such a way that the ‘tools’ were generated through discussing and navigating a variety of scenarios which children may come across, including developing the tools to handling peer pressure, being ‘upstanders’ and not ‘bystanders’ (in any situation), discussing ‘snitches get stitches’ and the like. The value in children teaching children cannot be understated – they draw the best out of each other, particularly when they operate in smaller groups.

The workshop was aimed at developing the children’s awareness of the importance of integrity and respect, two of our beloved school’s values.
