Marimbas: Termly Reflection
Striking a Chord: Introducing the Clifton Reds Marimba Band
This term has seen an exciting new addition to our music department with the formation of the Clifton Reds Marimba Band. Comprising talented musicians from Grades 6 and 7, this group marks our school’s first-ever premier team marimba band, and they are already setting an exceptionally high standard for performance and professionalism.
The progress made this term is a direct result of the incredible commitment shown by our students. The band members attend two compulsory practices per week,
Our Section Leaders are Botshelo Mophatlane (Alto), Nokwanda Sibeko (Tenor), Naleli Makoala (Bass) and Masedi Kaibe (Soprano and Band Captain).
Currently building up our repertoire, rehearsals have been filled with vibrant energy and rhythms in both Classical and Rock genres. We are incredibly proud of these "champs" and their hard work. It is a joy to watch their growth.
Building the Foundation: The Cadet Marimba Band
This term, we are delighted to celebrate the formation of the Cadet Marimba Band, a dedicated ensemble designed specifically for our Grade 4 and 5 children. This band will be known as the Champion Greys Marimba Band from next term.
These young performers are building the essential foundation required to one day join the ranks of the Clifton Reds.
Meeting once a week, this enthusiastic group has shown remarkable growth in a very short time. It has been a joy to watch their confidence grow with every practice, and we are confident that this "small but mighty" band will continue to go from strength to strength.
