More Than a Band: Making Music Together
At the start of the year, our school band came together as a group of young musicians with different instruments, different experiences, and a few challenges to overcome. With guitars, ukuleles, piano, violins, and a cello in the mix, the group had to learn not only how to play their own parts, but also how to listen and play together as one band.
Striking a Chord: Introducing the Clifton Reds Marimba Band
This term has seen an exciting new addition to our music department with the formation of the Clifton Reds Marimba Band. Comprising talented musicians from Grades 6 and 7, this group marks our school’s first-ever premier team marimba band, and they are already setting an exceptionally high standard for performance and professionalism.
The Cliftones Choir, made up of all our Grade 2 and Grade 3 children, has had a wonderful, fun start to the year. The children have been learning how to sing together as a group and how to perform with confidence. Their enthusiasm during rehearsals has been lovely to see.
The choir has worked hard at learning to sing in parts, with each group carefully singing their own part while listening to the other half of the choir. This has required great focus and teamwork. The children have also been practising how to sing both softly and loudly, helping to bring expression and life to their songs.
