From Foundations to Fanfares: A Term to Remember

It is only fitting to begin this final newsletter for the term with a heartfelt thank you to our parent community. The time you took to meet with our teachers this week is invaluable; these moments of connection are the bedrock of the parent-teacher relationship. My gratitude also goes to our staff for the immense care and preparation they poured into ensuring these conversations were both meaningful and sincere.

A Campus Transformed

We are extremely grateful to the Clifton Foundation for the passion and vision being poured into our current building projects. As I write, the roof panels are being laid on the Grade 4 classrooms, a thrilling milestone for staff and pupils alike! Nearby, the Usher House refurbishment is moving apace. It is already clear that the result will be more than just a high-quality boarding facility; it has been designed to be a true home, brimming with warmth and character for our boys and resident staff.

Meanwhile, the Library and Heritage Centre are rapidly taking shape. The architectural play of space and light is set to create a magnificent sanctuary dedicated to the love of reading and the pursuit of knowledge, a modern amphitheatre that will also proudly honour our school’s rich history.

A Symphony of Talent

Our Expressive Arts Department and children have been in the spotlight once again this week with exceptional JP and SP music recitals. The individual instrumental performances were of a remarkably high standard, while our choral ensembles left the audience with that unmistakable "warm glow" that only shared music can provide.

The icing on the cake was undoubtedly the eclectic showcase performed for our Grandparents on Thursday. From the whimsical strumming of ukuleles and the tinkling of xylophones to special choir and entertaining drama pieces, the morning culminated in a marimba finale so thunderous and joyful it left us all breathless with wonder.

Reflection and Renewal

Our Easter Chapel Service, brought the school week to a poignant close. The children read with such profound understanding, and the sound of our community singing together felt like the perfect "amen" to a busy term.

As we depart for the Easter break, I find myself reflecting on the whirlwind of these past few months.

Our Easter service served as a timely reminder that after a term of intense collective effort, there comes a vital time for renewal. Just as the Easter story speaks of new life, this break offers us all a chance to breathe and rejuvenate.

As I conclude my first term as your Headmaster, I am struck by how much we have shared in such a short time.

To borrow a sentiment from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland

"I could tell you my adventures - beginning from this morning - but it’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then."

This term has been a wondrous start to my own journey here, and I feel changed for the better by this community. I wish you all a peaceful and holy Easter, and I cannot wait to continue our adventure together next term.
