Chinese Banquet: 13 March
A Taste of Tradition: Grade 3 Explores the Wonders of China
Our Grade 3 classrooms recently transformed into a vibrant hub of international discovery! As part of our ongoing journey across the continents, with a special focus on the diverse landscapes of China and Brazil, our children stepped away from their desks and into the rich, flavorful world of Chinese culture.
The highlight of our unit was an authentic Chinese Banquet, where the aroma of ginger and soy sauce filled the air. Our young explorers traded their pencils for chopsticks, putting their fine motor skills to the ultimate test! While there were a few "slippery" moments, the determination to master the art of chopstick-dining was impressive.
The feast was a spectacular spread of traditional favorites, including:
Savory Bites: Dim sum, delicate dumplings, and crispy spring rolls.
Main Courses: Hearty noodles, fluffy omelets, and golden fried chicken.
The Finishing Touch: Plenty of soy sauce for dipping and refreshing ice tea to quench their thirst.
Beyond the delicious food, the morning was a beautiful celebration of connection and history. Dressed in cultural attire, the children shared stories and laughed together, experiencing firsthand how food can bridge the gap between different parts of the world. It was a morning filled with content hearts and a newfound appreciation for the rich heritage of the East.
"It was quite an experience eating with chopsticks! It really worked those hand muscles, but the dumplings were worth it!" — Grade 3 champ!
Through these immersive experiences, our children aren't just memorising names on a map; they are becoming true global citizens.
