The Sea That I Belong
Acrylic on canvas, 16 x 14
I was born in South Korea but I was raised in The Philippines. As a result, I used to have an identity complex when I younger. I couldn’t speak fluent Korean nor fluent Filipino and English. I was awkward being around many Koreans, and therefore I thought I wasn’t a Korean anymore. But as time passed by, I noticed I can have multiple identities and identities can be a mix of different cultures, and that the society will accept that.
