Being named after my grandma, I always shared and felt a personal connection to her. Her heirloom gift to me was a gold egyptian “Cartouche” necklace with our initials engraved in Egyptian hieroglyphs, represented by an Eagle for ‘A’ and an owl for ‘M.’ The juxtaposition of warm and cool colors, and geometric and non-geometric backgrounds against the Eagle’s rounded shape and the Owl’s symmetrical shape symbolizes our differences, while the long connecting branch and color of the figures represents our commonalities and connections.
