Semester Course (2 periods/wk)
Students with an interest in sports have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of foundational sports science concepts through a combination of practical and theoretical classes over a semester.
COURSE OUTLINE
Students will gain experiences in analysing athletes, team coaching, refereeing and will utilise information technology to create a digital play book.
Topics covered include: Components of fitness, Developing Physical Skills and Tactics, Floorball, and American flag football.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE
Students will be assessed on the following:
In class written test - Components of fitness
Demonstration of skills and tactics in Floorball
Demonstration of skills and tactics in American Flag Football
Self Management Skills
Interpersonal Skills
EXPECTATIONS
It is desirable that students maintain a high level of physical fitness and high standards of personal excellence.
Students are to participate in all aspects of the course both theory and practical.
Students are to consistently demonstrate high levels of preparation and organisation.
All practical equipment/clothing must be clearly labelled and carried in the College sports bag.
There is no programmed homework for this subject. Although, if students fall behind or miss programmed classwork it is an expectation that this is completed out of class time.
