DESIGN TECHNOLOGIES (Graphics)
Semester Course
In the Design Technologies: Graphics course students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to be able to follow the design process, analyse problems and design innovative strategies through projects. With a focus on drawing and CAD skills, students are given the opportunity to use the latest technology, including 3D printers, a laser cutter and industry standard design software. The skills and knowledge gained will provide a solid foundation for all of the Design and Technology courses.
DESIGN TECHNOLOGIES (Metals)
Semester Course
This course involves designing and creating projects using predominantly metal and other materials such as plastic and wood. Students will have the opportunity to design their projects using Google Sketch Up and produce them using a wide range of hand tools, power tools and machinery. Students will continue to learn Occupational Health & Safety requirements in an industrial environment.
Information Computer Technology is imbedded in this course, giving students opportunities to develop some basic competencies in computer technologies.

Semester Course

DESIGN TECHNOLOGIES (Jewellery Design)
Semester Course
Have you ever wanted to create your own pieces of jewellery from precious and semi-precious metals, including copper, brass and nickel-silver? In this unit you will be involved in the development of skills and processes necessary to produce jewellery items such as rings, bracelets and pendants.
You will develop skills in creative and critical thinking as well as the exploration and development of ideas through investigation of different jewellers, techniques, processes and technologies. You will need to be motivated and able to work independently which will lead to the successful production of jewellery items.
