The Year 10 Mathematics courses simultaneously develop students' mathematical content knowledge from Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, Statistics and Probability and the proficiencies of Problem Solving Understanding and Fluency whilst preparing students for Year 11 and 12 WACE Mathematics courses.
Pathways in Year 10
Pathway 1 caters for students who are working below their Australian Curriculum year level and require extra support to develop their mathematical skills. Smaller class sizes enable this to occur. A major focus for this course in Year 10 is addressing students Numeracy needs.
Pathway 2 caters for the majority of students and is based on their year level of the Australian Curriculum for Mathematics. This course prepares students for either Mathematics Essential General or Mathematics Applications ATAR in Years 11 and 12.
Pathway 2A is based on the Year Ten Australian Curriculum for Mathematics and caters for students suited to a more rigorous preparation for Mathematics Applications in Years 11 and 12.
Pathway 3 covers the Year 10 and parts of the 10A Australian Curriculum for Mathematics courses. Whilst the course does prepare students for Mathematics Methods in Years 11 and 12, it does not provide as rigorous preparation as the Pathway 3A course. Students in Year 10 Mathematics Pathway 3 are required to have a CASIO Classpad 400. This calculator will also be used for Year 11 and 12 WACE Mathematics Courses.
Pathway 3A covers the Year 10 and 10A Australian Curriculum for Mathematics courses. It is a very challenging pathway, designed to prepare students for both Mathematics Methods and Mathematics Specialist in Years 11 and 12. Students in Year 10 Mathematics Pathway 3A are required to have a CASIO Classpad 400. This calculator will also be used for Year 11 and 12 WACE Mathematics Courses.
