In Year 9, students consider the operation of systems at a range of scales.
CHEMISTRY
Students will develop understanding about sub-atomic particles and how this relates to radioactivity. They further explore chemical reactions using and expanding their experimental techniques.
PHYSICS
Students will explore the process of energy transfer using heat, electricity and light as primary sources.
BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE
Students explore the interaction of different systems within their bodies (digestive, respiratory, circulatory etc.) and study the effects of lifestyle choices on their bodies.
EARTH AND SPACE SCIENCE
Students will study the theory of plate tectonics and how this relates to geological activity and continental movement. This also incorporates the understanding of the geological timescale.
It is important to note that students will be grouped into strands for Year 10 science based on their achievements in Year 9. For more information, please see the Year 10 Science page.
