DESIGN TECHNOLOGIES (Materials)
Semester Course
Students in this course will –
Develop a personalised design brief layout presentation using a range of common and free software
Develop skills in manipulating a range of computer files
Learn computer aided 3D sketching and dimensioning techniques
Students will be introduced to a range of materials and their properties such as timbers, steel and plastics. They will be required to manipulate them with both hand and power tools
Learn Occupational Health & Safety requirements in an industrial environment
Evaluate their work and others
DESIGN TECHNOLOGIES (Graphics)
Semester Course
In the Design Technologies: Graphics course students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to be able to follow the design process, analyse problems and design innovative strategies through projects. With a focus on drawing and CAD skills, students are given the opportunity to use the latest technology, including 3D printers, a laser cutter and industry standard design software. The skills and knowledge gained will provide a solid foundation for all of the Design and Technology courses.
