At Carlsbad Village Academy, many of our students spend significant time online through social media, gaming, messaging apps, and digital communication. Students also know firsthand how quickly online conflict, rumors, harassment, and disrespect can affect mental health, relationships, and school climate.
This lesson is designed to create an honest conversation—not a lecture—about online hate and harassment, while helping students recognize the importance of respect, belonging, and being an upstander within the CVA community.
This lesson supports relationship-building, emotional safety, MTSS/social-emotional learning, restorative conversations, student voice, and the development of a respectful school culture rooted in dignity and belonging. It reinforces the No Place for Hate pledge and the broader vision of creating a campus where all students feel heard, valued, and connected.
