At AOE, Grade Level Ambassadors in the No Place for Hate Committee meet to discuss what it means to be a No Place for Hate School and then are responsible for organizing the pledge signing in their class. The signed pledge is displayed in the classroom and information about the pledge is shared with the school community through a monthly newsletter.
For their second activity, the No Place for Hate team organized Compassion Day as a meaningful way to conclude Kindness Week. Compassion Day is designed to allow students to experience how others with disabilities, either physical or learning, experience their world through hands-on activities. All classes signed up to participate in a rotation of stations. These stations provided hands-on activities to allow students to see what it is like to have a visual impairment, hearing impairment, speech impairment, language-based learning disability and mobility/fine motor impairment.
For their third activity, the No Place for Hate Student Committee presented the Speak Up, Interrupt! sign to their classes. Student Ambassadors led the discussion about the importance of interrupting bullying and harassment on campus.
