AOE was recognized as a No Place For Hate (NPFH) school again for the 2025/2026 school year, and we will continue in our efforts to build a community fostering a school culture of respect and inclusion, and an environment that is kind, safe, and bully-free. Our NPFH Class Ambassadors, a student leadership opportunity which began last year, will be returning. Class ambassadors will meet once a month and will take the lead to present information or activities, which align with our NPFH endeavors, back to their classes. Our Class Ambassadors reintroduced the NPFH pledge to their classes.
Our NPFH class ambassadors led their classes in a school-wide collaborative art project to recognize Unity Day on October 22. Unity Day, an annual event, was started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in 2011 and is now celebrated around the world. We are asking everyone in our AOE community to wear orange on Unity Day as a way to show support that we at AOE are "united" in fostering a kind, inclusive, and bully-free school!
December started out with AOE’s One World Fair, our community’s first multicultural fair. A BIG thank you to our PTA, the fair coordinators, and family volunteers. Our No Place For Hate (NPFH) Class Ambassadors also had a chance to play a role in preparing their classmates for the fair experience. Our ambassadors lead class discussions about culture – What is culture? Why is it important to learn about other cultures? We are thankful for another successful school-wide event to promote acceptance and foster connection in our school community.
At AOE, Compassion Day provided students with hands-on activities designed to create awareness and compassion for differences. Our No Place For Hate (NPFH) class ambassadors prepared their classes on what to expect at the event and led discussions with their classmates about the importance of learning about others and empowering students to create a kinder and inclusive school community.
Compassion Day consisted of five stations for students to partake in to see how others navigate through their world. The stations were:
Vision Impairment
Hearing Impairment
Mobility/Fine Motor Impairment
Sensory Processing Issues
Neurodivergence
