Students participated in a class-wide goal writing activity. While all students had participated in various activities earlier this year, this March commitment served as a re-commitment and pledge to ensure our campus is welcoming and supportive of all students. Students wrote down statements in their classes and formed chains to be displayed in English classes.
Anti Bullying Counseling Lessons: Students will learn to define and identify bullying and what this looks like on campus. Students will be introduced to key terms such as what it means to be an upstander.
Great Kindness Week Challenge: Working in collaboration with the ASB team, students on campus earned “coupons” when they were caught in the act of doing something kind for another student. Coupons were worth 10 points each and could be turned into the student’s advisory teacher. The Advisory class with the most combined points earned a Rootbeer Float party, courtesy of the ASB.
National Conflict Resolution Student Training: We will welcome trainers from the National Conflict Resolution Center to campus to hold small group trainings with all 6th and 7th grade students on campus. The Title of the training is The Bystander Challenge. Students will work in groups of 25, forming restorative circles and discussing ways they can continue to be upstanders around campus. Students will learn tools to distract and disrupt bullying.
