The NPFH committee went to every classroom from TK-5th and shared the pledge with each class. They brought in stars for each student who'd like to sign the pledge and then we created a board in the office that stated "Be the star that outshines HATE" and all the student's signed stars are on the board.
Our No Place for Hate student leaders helped students create paper lanterns as a symbol of unity and inclusion. Just like lanterns glow brighter when they shine together, our school community is strongest when everyone feels seen, valued, and never left in the dark. We displayed the lanterns in our school office.
Our No Place for Hate Committee recently led a powerful schoolwide activity centered on unity, kindness, and teamwork. Every student decorated a 3”x3” square, and all 450 pieces will be joined together to create a beautiful wall mural that reads “Choose To Be Kind,” symbolizing how each individual contributes to our stronger school community. To put that message into action, the entire school then came together to choose kindness through service by cleaning and weeding our campus, showing that when we work together, we can create beauty both in our relationships and in our environment.
For our third No Place for Hate activity, our school community came together during Open House to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and belonging through our theme: “Around the World With CHE: Many Cultures, One Heart.”
Each student received a paper “suitcase” to complete with their name, where their ancestors or family originated from, and something they love about their culture or family traditions. These suitcases were displayed surrounding a large world map to highlight the many cultures and backgrounds represented within our school community.
During Open House, families participated in an interactive activity where they placed colorful “jewels” on the countries connected to their family heritage. This created a beautiful visual representation of the diversity within our school and helped students and families recognize the many cultures that make up our CHE family.
In addition, every classroom represented a different country from around the world. Classes shared information about their assigned country through food samples, clothing, games, music, art projects, and cultural displays. Students traveled from classroom to classroom with personalized passports and received stamps from each country they visited, creating an engaging and educational multicultural experience.
We also created a large collaborative school banner featuring various skin-tone ovals where students and families were invited to color and design faces that represented themselves. This banner symbolized unity, acceptance, and the beauty of our differences. The completed banner will remain displayed at our school as we begin the new school year to continue promoting our message of inclusion and belonging.
This event helped foster empathy, cultural appreciation, school connectedness, and pride in the diverse identities and experiences that make our school community unique.
