What is the Rental Building Request? 🏗️🏠
The Rental Building Request system provides staff departments with temporary structures to support their operations in Black Rock City. Whether you need a workspace, storage, or shelter from the elements for event related operations, rental buildings offer a functional solution for keeping things running smoothly in the desert. All requests are subject to availability, approval, and placement guidelines. Departments receiving buildings are responsible for proper use, notifying DPW Power to add/cut power, and leaving them in good condition at the end of the event. It’s important that you provide a floor plan. It doesn’t matter if it’s a simple sketch on a napkin or a detailed CAD drawing - we just need to ensure we get the building exactly how you need it.
MAKING A NEW REQUEST(S):
To submit a new Rental Building request, visit the Business Services Dashboard. Once logged in, navigate to the “Request Resources” section and start a new request. On the request form select “Rental Building” from the asset type dropdown. Fill out your project details and click submit. You will receive an automated confirmation email once your request is successfully logged. Please submit a separate request for each rental bulding needed.
MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR REQUEST(S):
To make changes or cancellations, navigate back to the Business Services Dashboard, click on "My Dashboard" and then "Requested Resources". Locate the reservation you'd like to modify and click Manage. From there, you can edit each section of the request. You can edit your request as often as you like, we understand things happen and change. ALL changes are subject to availability after the initial request window closes.
WHATS THE STATUS?
You will receive a series of automated email updates to keep you informed:
Submission Confirmation: Sent immediately upon successfully submitting your request.
Approval / Denial: When the Budget Manager and DPW have both reviewed your request, you will be notified of the fullfilment decision.
Deployment Instructions: A detailed email regarding building install and deployment will be sent as we approach go time.
Real-Time Tracking: You can monitor the progress of your request at any time. Simply visit the Business Services Dashboard and navigate to My Dashboard > Requested Resources to view current status and updates.

Does my building have to be inspected before I can move in and use it?
Yes, the building inspectors will come around and certify the building before you can move in and start using it. This includes connecting power.
How will I know when my building has been inspected?
There will be an inspection pass sticker near the entrance door. You can also check with DPW Logistics to find out further details.
