Rugby League

Bathurst Diocese was well represented by 12 girls at the Inaugural Under 16's Rugby League Trial on Friday 11th June. Players and there families were treated to blue skies and sun when they arrived at the ground! There was no snow and the rain held off until the trials were finished! Great conditions especially when many of us left behind snow covered yards or travelled through snow to get there.

The quality of the players was outstanding and the footy overall a very high standard. Girls rugby league has a bright future with such talented players.

The hard work of Sherree Bush Canberra Goulburn Diocese must be acknowledged. She has worked tirelessly to give the girls this opportunity.

From the trial a squad of 20 players was selected to represent Southern Country at the CCC U16's Girls Rugby League Trials. We wish these the girls selected the best of luck.

The Southern Country Rugby League Trials were held in Wagga on Wednesday 28th April. It was a beautiful sunny day which allowed for some outstanding footy to be played. What a great day of Rugby League.

Thank you to all involved in making todays trials in Wagga possible. All players were given an opportunity to show their skill and play some fantastic football.

A big thanks to all the Diocesan sports staff for their support especially Anthony Hood Wagga Diocese for hosting and organising today trials. Special thanks to and Steve Hooper Red Bend college Forbes who works tirelessly to give students a pathway in Rugby league. Special mention to the coaching staff Pat Rudd, Andy Haycock and Bobby Wykamp, thank you for your professionalism and providing a pathway for these players.
