Bathurst Diocesan Swimming Carnival Report & Students Selected - 2021
Diocesan Swimming Carnival – Dubbo
Wednesday, 10th March 2021
Hosted by St. Laurence’s Primary Dubbo
The carnival day was blessed with wonderful weather, a welcoming and social atmosphere, plus a tremendous display of sporting ability.
We had 265 swimmers compete on the day; competitors came from 25 schools in the Diocese.
Two records were broken on the day:
Abbie Messner of St Mary’s Dubbo broke the 11 yr old girls 50m Backstroke record.
Isabel Grout of Assumption Bathurst broke the Senior girls 50m Backstroke record.
The girls’ age champions were; Junior champion Poppi Stephen of St Philomena’s Bathurst, 11 years champion Abbie Messner of St Mary’s Dubbo, and Senior champion was Isabel Grout of Assumption Bathurst. Congratulations also to the boys; Junior champion Angus Coleman of St Brigid’s Coonamble, 11 years champion Nate Brennan of Cathedral Bathurst and Senior champion Neil Kennedy of St Brigid’s Coonamble
The carnival would not have been successful without the very professional help of Doug and Terrianne Sandry of Dubbo Swimtech.
The parent and teacher helpers on the day were wonderful in their assistance to help with timekeeping. Team managers and supervising staff need to be thanked for getting all swimmers to the start on time and also to all the competitors for their behaviour, sportsmanship and manners. We thank Bill McDonald, the carnival referee. Thanks also to Steve Maguire for his assistance with the carnival.
