Writing

Semicolons! Watch the videos on semicolons; go on the BBC website to help you to describe a character.

See what I did there 😏

Now go on google classroom to complete the dojo monster description! Make sure you use at least one semicolon.

Semicolons in sentences

A semicolon can replace a coordinating conjunction that links two independent clauses together. For example:

  • Her cape is yellow and his cape is green.

Becomes:

  • Her cape is yellow; his cape is green.

You don’t use a capital letter after a semicolon as it isn’t a new sentence, unless it is a proper noun.

Topic

The Victorian period was one of major technological and scientific advance in Britain. The country went through an 'industrial revolution' where machinery improved greatly allowing for more effective factories and more money coming into the country. New medicines and ways of treating diseases and illnesses were developed as well.

Today you will be looking at advances in Victorian transport. Click on the link below to watch a video it.

Your task:

The Victorian period brought about changes in transport that no one had envisioned before, things like cars and steam railways were revolutionary. But what will be the next big changes in transport? How will we be getting around London in 50 years time?

You could draw a picture of a new type of transport we will all be using in the future, make a model, make a presentation and share it with your teachers
