Happy April Fool's Day!

Let's Investigate!

This week is investigate week, so today we will be focussing on Science activities. Exciting! Below is a link to the Science Home Learning website that Sean has created for you.

Click on the three links that Sean has posted on to the Year 5 Science Home Learning page. Watch the videos carefully and then complete the short quiz below. For the first video (which is called Forces, friction and gravity), begin watching at 5 minutes and end at 8m20s. You need to watch all three videos in order to complete the quiz successfully!

You are now going to spend some time investigating parachutes. I have shared a document with you on Google Classroom which you MUST complete. Watch my video below for instructions on how to complete the document and how to proceed with the investigation.

Reading

Head over to Google drive (shared with me), read the Katherine Johnson text and then answer the questions in the quiz (also shared with you).

Science continued

Research a scientist of your choice and create an Adobe Spark Glide Show presenting your findings. Include the following key information:

Name of the scientist

What did they do?

What are they famous/known for?

Why did you pick this particular scientist to research?

What do you like about this scientist's work?

How has this scientist contributed to society?

Where do you think society would be without this scientist?

If you were a scientist, what would you like to investigate and why? Share your ideas with us on the flipgrid page at https://flipgrid.com/833de0a6

Get experimenting!

To conclude our Science learning for today, we would like you to head over to the Home page on the Science Home Learning Site and choose a fun experiment that you would like to carry out (with permission from your parents!). Upload your photos and videos to flipgrid.com/hearty9621. Have fun and be safe! Remember not to do anything without parental permission and supervision.

Maths

Watch the video below, then complete the quiz! No workbook today!
